Today, the Oak Park Inn is entering a new chapter while preserving the retro character and warm hospitality that have defined it for more than 70 years.
Thoughtful updates are bringing fresh life to this historic property, creating a place where the spirit of the past meets the comfort of the present.

Shereen Malek is a Waynesville entrepreneur with a passion for breathing new life into historic buildings. In the summer of 2026, she became the fifth owner of the Oak Park Inn—beginning an exciting new chapter in the motel’s long story.
Drawing on her background in business, real estate, and design, Shereen plans to preserve the Inn’s nostalgic character while thoughtfully introducing modern comforts and globally inspired touches.
As the owner of several other historic properties in the area, she considers it an honor to steward this beloved Waynesville landmark and carry its story into the future.

Rick and Carolyn Gordon purchased the Oak Park Inn in 2005 with no prior hospitality experience. They quickly discovered a love for welcoming guests and made Waynesville their home. After more than 20 years, they retired in 2026, carrying with them countless cherished friendships with guests from near and far.
